Wike Urges Opposition to Acknowledge Tinubu Administration’s Achievements

ABUJA, October 15, 2026
— Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged opposition politicians to acknowledge the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stressing that political differences should not prevent an objective assessment of government policies and performance.

Wike made the call on Wednesday, October 14, during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, attended by party leaders, governors and other political stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Wike described himself as a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while explaining his support for President Tinubu. He argued that political affiliation should not stop politicians from recognising policies and decisions they consider beneficial to the country.

The former Rivers State governor also faulted opposition narratives portraying the Tinubu administration as lacking direction, arguing that the President had demonstrated a willingness to confront difficult national challenges that previous administrations had failed to adequately address.

On national security, Wike expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to tackle insecurity, highlighting the proposed establishment of state police as a reform that could strengthen security management across the country.

The state policing proposal has continued to generate national debate, particularly over constitutional safeguards, funding, accountability and the relationship between federal and state authorities.

Wike also challenged members of the Presidential Campaign Council to translate their political influence into measurable results in their respective areas of responsibility, rather than relying solely on their appointments and official positions.

According to a review of the inauguration by the Media and Publicity Team of the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals (FORCEPA), Wike’s remarks were among the notable interventions at the event.

The inauguration brought together political figures from different parties, including Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

FORCEPA’s Media and Publicity Team said the event provided an opportunity to document political stakeholders’ views on governance, public accountability, security reforms and the relationship between political competition and national development.

The forum maintained that public discussions on government performance should be guided by verifiable policies, measurable outcomes and the experiences of Nigerians across different sectors.
