Kano Police Deny Political Motive in Intervention Over Disputed Event

Bakori explained that the command had previously provided security for activities brought to its attention by Hikima, adding that the police did not prevent individuals or groups from organising events.

“We do not prevent people from organising events. Even he has informed us about their activities on several occasions, and we provided security, ensuring that the events ended peacefully,” he stated.

The police commissioner advised Hikima to notify the command ahead of such activities to enable officers to make adequate security arrangements for organisers and participants.

“Our advice is that he should have informed us so we could provide security for the organisers and the people of Kano State. We are all working for the people,” he added.

The command maintained that its role was to safeguard public order and ensure the peaceful conduct of activities across the state.
