The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reaffirmed that the Monday sit-at-home order will go on as planned, dismissing reports suggesting otherwise as falsehoods deliberately circulated to mislead the public.
In a clarification statement signed by Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB accused unnamed individuals of impersonating its officials online and spreading misinformation in an alleged attempt to weaken support for its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
IPOB Rejects Ejiofor’s Claims
The group stated unequivocally that Ifeanyi Ejiofor has no authority to speak for IPOB or Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, stressing that he was relieved of all responsibilities within the movement more than two years ago.
According to the statement, any calls credited to Ejiofor urging the suspension of the sit-at-home are unauthorized and should be ignored by the public.
Alleged Attempts to Silence IPOB Voice
IPOB further alleged that certain individuals recently pressured Emma Powerful to stop issuing statements highlighting Kanu’s continued detention. The group claimed that when he refused, efforts were made to spread rumours portraying him as irrelevant or nonexistent.
The development was described as a deliberate plot to hijack the movement’s leadership and distract supporters from its central objective.
DOS Members Accused of Compromise
The statement also accused some individuals within the Directorate of State (DOS) of undermining the struggle by allegedly holding meetings with Charles Soludo, aimed at weakening the solidarity shown by traders of Onitsha Main Market.
IPOB said such actions contradict the spirit of the movement and amount to betrayal of Biafran supporters.
Fake Resignations, Online Manipulation
The group warned Nigerians to disregard any resignation letters or announcements circulating in the name of Emma Powerful, describing them as fabricated content pushed by hostile elements to create confusion.
IPOB claimed that anti-Biafra forces have taken advantage of the online space, falsely presenting themselves as IPOB or DOS officials.
Media Appearances Announced
Emma Powerful announced plans to appear on radio and other media platforms between Monday and Tuesday morning to clarify IPOB’s position and counter what he described as misleading narratives.

IPOB urged residents of the South-East and Biafran supporters to remain vigilant, ignore misinformation, and strictly comply with the Monday sit-at-home directive, insisting that the wider IPOB family remains united.
“False narratives may spread, but the truth will stand,” the statement concluded.
