More than 30 terrorists have been killed by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in a joint counter-terrorism operation with ground forces in Borno State.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, revealed that the offensive occurred on September 5, 2025, at Dar-El-Jamal village in Bama Local Government Area. The operation followed distress reports of intense clashes between troops and heavily armed insurgents.
The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai engaged with surveillance platforms and precision airstrikes. Aircrews located clusters of terrorists attempting to flee and carried out three calculated strikes, resulting in the death of more than 30 fighters. Ground troops were later deployed to secure the village and surrounding areas.
Ejodame emphasized, “The operation highlights the seamless synergy between air and ground forces, demonstrating our commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, protecting vulnerable communities, and restoring stability in the North East.”
For over a decade, the North East has remained the epicenter of violent campaigns by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), resulting in humanitarian crises that include mass killings, large-scale displacement, and destruction of infrastructure.
Despite recent advances under Operation Hadin Kai since 2021, which have reclaimed several territories, sporadic attacks still underline the fragile state of security in the region.
