One Confirmed Dead, Seven Injured as Midnight Rainstorm Collapses Building in Jigawa

A devastating midnight rainstorm in Jigawa State has caused a building collapse in Kabak village, Kirikasamma Local Government Area, leaving one person dead and seven others injured.

The incident was confirmed on Sunday by the council’s Information Officer, Musa Muhammad, who attributed the tragedy to the heavy downpour that swept across Kirikasamma and neighboring communities.

“I gathered that seven persons got serious injuries while one person died at Kabak village in Kirikasamma Local Government Area,” Muhammad confirmed.

He added that the collapse struck at midnight on Friday, with five victims requiring hospital care while two were treated and discharged after sustaining injuries.

Relief and Assistance

In response, the Chairman of Kirikasamma Local Government, Muhammad Maji, visited the scene to sympathize with residents and the affected families. He announced financial aid, including N500,000 for medical treatment of the injured and N100,000 as emergency support to the bereaved family.

Community leaders have welcomed the gesture but called for long-term measures to mitigate future building collapses, especially as seasonal rainfall continues to intensify in the state.
