NEW YEAR ADDRESS: IPOB Urges Biafrans to Remain Steadfast, Says Sacrifice Is the Price of Freedom

 The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on Biafrans across the world to begin the new year with renewed hope, courage, and unwavering faith as the struggle for self-determination continues.

In a New Year message signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group acknowledged the hardships faced by its members but stressed that every genuine quest for freedom demands sacrifice and perseverance.

IPOB stated that its objective goes beyond symbolic independence, emphasizing that it seeks true freedom anchored in justice, dignity, and respect for the people. According to the statement, Biafrans were created as a free people, and the responsibility of restoring that freedom now rests on the present generation.

The group described its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as a model of courage and selfless leadership, noting that his continued detention has not weakened the resolve of the movement. IPOB maintained that efforts to suppress the agitation through propaganda, distortion of facts, and alleged abuse of legal processes have failed to derail its cause.

IPOB further criticised Nigeria’s political structure, describing it as one that undermines human dignity and fuels division among its constituent peoples. The organisation, however, stressed that its struggle is not driven by hatred, but by opposition to oppression and injustice.

The statement also expressed appreciation to individuals from other ethnic and religious backgrounds who have publicly supported the Biafran cause, noting that such acts demonstrate that conscience and solidarity still exist beyond ethnic boundaries.

As the new year begins, IPOB called for unity, resilience, and collective resolve among Biafrans, expressing confidence that freedom will ultimately be achieved. The message concluded with prayers for strength, healing, and guidance, alongside renewed hope that the realization of Biafra will draw closer in the year ahead.
