Bayern Munich’s talisman Harry Kane showcased his ruthless finishing skills once again as the Bavarians thrashed Hoffenheim 4-1 in their Bundesliga encounter on Saturday.
Kane, who recently tormented Chelsea with a brace in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League, carried his sensational form into the domestic league with another hat-trick.
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany rotated his squad heavily, introducing Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson into the starting lineup. The changes initially unsettled the team, with Hoffenheim carving out the better chances. However, Kane’s instinctive strike from a corner silenced the visitors before the interval.
Hoffenheim’s hopes of an upset quickly evaporated after the restart. Bayern benefited from a contentious penalty decision for handball, which Kane converted. Later, the England skipper struck again from the spot in the 77th minute after a foul on Michael Olise was confirmed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Vladimir Coufal gave Hoffenheim a late consolation, but Serge Gnabry restored Bayern’s three-goal margin in stoppage time with a goal against his former side.
With the victory, Bayern Munich maintained a perfect record this season, winning all seven matches across competitions. Kane now boasts 13 goals this season, including eight in four Bundesliga games. He has scored 98 goals in 103 appearances since moving to Germany in 2023, making this hat-trick his ninth for Bayern.
Elsewhere, newly promoted Hamburg ended a 2,688-day drought in the Bundesliga by beating Heidenheim 2-1. Luka Vuskovic opened the scoring before Rayan Philippe doubled the lead, assisted by Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira. Heidenheim’s Adam Koelle pulled one back in stoppage time, but Hamburg held firm for their historic win.
Other Bundesliga matches saw Freiburg win 3-0 at Werder Bremen, while Mainz triumphed 4-1 at Augsburg despite going down to ten men following Dominik Kohr’s red card. RB Leipzig were scheduled to face Cologne later in the day.
