Environmental taskforce arrests 41 in Lagos Island, reason will shock you

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce detained 41 individuals during a well-coordinated security operation across key areas on the Island in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to a statement from the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the operation began at around 1:00 a.m. and targeted known criminal hotspots such as Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Falomo, Osborne Road, the Eko Hotel area, Lekki Road, and Obalende.

This operation is part of a broader initiative by the Lagos State Government to tackle street-level crime and restore public order.

The crackdown specifically focuses on miscreants, street urchins, hooligans, pickpockets, and other suspected criminals whose activities threaten the safety of residents and commuters.

Authorities have pledged to continue these proactive enforcement efforts to ensure a safer and more secure environment in Lagos.

“During the exercise, 41 suspects were arrested and sanity was restored,” the statement noted.
