2027: APC foresees Tinubu’s win as Atiku, Obi camps meet

 

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, and other opposition leaders have agreed to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their main coalition platform to challenge President Tinubu in 2027. During a recent meeting in Abuja, the camps of Atiku and Obi decided to restructure and strengthen the ADC, with official announcements expected soon.

El-Rufai confirmed the meeting, stating the coalition's goal is to unseat Tinubu. Although some leaders like El-Rufai are linked to the SDP, they plan to align it with the ADC. Leadership changes within the ADC are also being considered.

While Atiku’s and Obi’s aides claimed no knowledge of the meeting, they confirmed ongoing talks aimed at rescuing Nigeria. Obi is reportedly still consulting on whether to accept a vice-presidential role.

Former SGF Babachir Lawal dismissed the PDP as a viable platform, calling it beyond repair. Meanwhile, the APC dismissed the opposition’s efforts, with its National Secretary Ajibola Basiru saying Tinubu, a master coalition builder, will win again in 2027.
